Lets watch Hell Boy 2.
Hola, I just got back from seeing Hell Boy 2, The Golden Army. It is with some shame that I admit that I had never even seen Hell Boy one until tonight (about 2 hrs prior) but ohwell. Im not a fanboy and I never got into comics. Two things I do absolutely love though are 1: A well told story and 2: a good movie. Both of which I was privy to tonight. If you dont know the story, Hell Boy is a demon who accidentaly slips through a gate to the netharworld opend by Rasputin in the later years of WW2 (gotta love comics, no?). Anyways, he grows up and is raised by a catholic doctor who also has a vaste knowledge of the occult. First movie in a nutshell: Hell boy comes to earth, he is co-opted by the U.S. govt. along with a realy smart fish man and a firestarter girl to be a super team lead by the catholic/cultist/dad guy. Dad guy dies, Hellboy and Firestarter girl fall in love. Classic movie stuff.
Second movie in a nutshell: WOW! Holy crap this movie go's off the wall. If you have ever seen the movie Pan's Laberynth (El laberinto del fauno) Then you have seen the amazing things that director Guilmero Del Torro is capable of doing with a good special effect department. He only expands on this in Hell Boy 2. Literally ever second of the movie is crawling with not only wildly imiginativly designed charachters, but also a story that (despite its slightly absurd nature) is just glowing with life. Nearly every spec of screen is coverd with tiny details and every moment of story almost so purely original, /sigh. It all helps you look past the chessy as nachos dialouge and the often less-then-par acting of the leading lady (methinks she is in bed with Mr Del Toro, its the only logical explanation ;) ). Anyways, I am tired and dont feel like rambeling anymore. If and when you see the movie please share your thought/opinions.
In closing I will say this Hell Boy 2, moral of the story? Nerds should never fall in love. If nerds fall in love, they may just trigger near-apocalyptic events.
