My question. In terms of copy and paste (from a source, manipulated into a texture) what are the requirements for the piece you've "created" to be legit?

Is it based on hours gone into it, extent of the manipulation, your own input into the piece (things you've created yourself), etc, etc?

I'm not looking to try this, but I'm just curious as to what meets the specifications required to be able to sell it as, "your own art."

It should be like original and unique and not closely similar to another one.

In terms of using an exterior source, such as an image or group of images.
