Adipositivity - Are You Okay With It?
I am not going to provide a link nor am I going to tell you to search for it because you COULD COME ACROSS SOMETHING AGAINST FORUM RULES AND I DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. But here's the gist:

There is a new activist group talking about positivity in obesity. There message isn't "you should love yourself no matter what", but rather that being obese is a GOOD thing, and an object of beauty that people should strive for.

I'm really okay with people doing what they want to themselves. If you want to binge drink fine. If you want to smoke tobacco products cool, just make sure I'm not inhaling your second-hand smoke. If you want to ride a motor cycle without a helmet it's your funeral.

What I DO have a problem with is if you're going to maybe soon make commercials about how being obesity is some great thing. You're NOT allowed to have commercials about smoking tobacco products anymore because it's terrible for your health -> a huge distinction from drinking responsibility with Budweiser commercials for Alcohol. In the same vein: Obesity is terrible for your health and I don't want people thinking "Well, I could've been slowly making improvements in my body to become healthier, but now because of this I'll stay obese"

Again, can't stress it enough: loving who you are and loving/accepting your body is fine. Not wanting to strive to fitness model level physiques and athletic cardiovascular training is cool. But advertising an ideology that it's GOOD to be obese seems like a dangerous thing that we shouldn't practice.

What are your opinions on this?

They're half right.
Loving yourself is needed to be able to maintain high, or moderate self esteem. But loving yourself can't be set at 'obese' since that would be unhealthy and could have life damaging effects. BUT, to try and change someones opinion like that could, and might hate or dislike their opinions and/or self. So really you should just strive to love your physical and mental self with as little leniency to your weight as you can handle.
But you're right that saying 'obese is good' is a wrong statement, mainly for children/teens who will never try to change for the better
don't talk to me or my dudes ever again
obesity is a disease, and bottom line is that it's bad for you

no matter what way, shape or form you see it as, there are next to no advantages of being obese compared to being physically fit or even just average

i personally believe " it's okay if you love yourself the way you are" is pretty much the biggest lie of my generation
even if you think you're beautiful just the way you are, that doesn't change the fact that i'll outlive you by at least 15, 20 years because my diet isn't total garbage

i mean, there are exceptions if you have some disorder or "gland problem" (cough bullshit)

but beside that there is nothing good about this at all

If it makes you happy, and doesn't negatively impact others I don't see why there's a problem with it. And if you're going to share their beliefs, it's your fault for being a mindless drone.

I don't think you quite understand.

Being obese is terrible for you. It's a major contributing factor to the top 5 causes of death. And people are now promoting you, not to LOVE YOURSELF, but to STAY FAT.

People would be offended if you said "Hey, get AIDs. It's good for you" on a commercial, so why draw the line here?

Do you want any form of intervention for adipostivity? Just for clarification.
I have a friend that trains an obese person, so I don't think there is any positive aspect of being obese other than enjoying food. There was once an article that I read on obese people being healthier because they ate so much, but it was obviously wrong since it is one of the top most deaths. Teens are becoming obese and it almost disgusts me. I don't mean to be rude, but they should cut down and try to lose some weight. I understand if you're kind of chubby, but obese is just horrible specially when you are a teen. So all together, this is a terrible lifestyle to live.

I want a clear effort expressed by adipositivity to highlight the dangers of being obese with what they're saying about remaining obese.

Tobacco companies include warnings about cigarettes, even on the box I believe? Obesity should be held to the same standard.

Well my question to the "obesity should be held to the same standard." thing is... Do we put this on all junk foods? Or all foods? Where the fuck would this go. Nobody reads fine print on items anyways lol.

Ah, in that case I'm all for your solution. I think most of us can agree that it is a bad thing, I just thought you wanted something along the lines of shutting the program down completely.
