Adding on to what the two comments above me have said, learn how each joint moves, if thry rotate or contract and what differences it'll make on your move, different moves are performed in different mods. After you've learnt what all the joints do, don't copy a move, use the physics of toribash and use multiple joints at once to make a move. There is no fixed way on how to play toribash. To get the idea of the joints, just keep practicing on uke in an easy mod such as judo. When you feel that you're getting better, play in a mod where it is harder to dismember, such as aikido.
