Is schooling compulsory?
Well... I wanted to start this topic so yea

(I'm not saying that school shouldn't be made but I asked my classmates and they had different opinions)

Almost every subject there is something for it that can calculate or find out anything.

For maths you have the internet and the calculator

For english you have a dictionary and thesaurus

For spelling you have the keyboard

For geography you have a world map

It's just that almost every year, the world advances forward and the need for teaching just becomes less and less important because everything is right infront of you.

So my questions are:

Is schooling compulsory?

Why do we need schooling?

I would like to har your reactions guys

Thanks for reading

For every single example you have given: How, precisely, do you propose to use the tools without having been taught how to use them?

How on earth does a keyboard remove the need to grammar? or speelng? And how to math? You don't learn order of operations from looking at a calculator, or what the lamda symbol means.

And some Americans don't even know where the Middle East is on the map.

Knowledge means nothing without the tools and skills to use it. That's the intent and purpose of school.

There has to be some kind of education, no argument there, but todays education is done so poorly that it not anything i'd actually call education. The system has great room for improvement, but no one wants to change a system that seem to work.
Back to the topic, in my opinion, compulsory education should apply to grownups too, as there is really no reason to quit school, and it should be drawn from work time, maybe once a week.

Interesting, so basically you're talking about computer reliant basement dwellers incapable of doing anything? Ha, people who claim they're above education are hilarious.
I love mocking them with big words that they can't understand.
I love seeing the look on their face when they take stuff to a till & discover they can't afford it.
I love the way they've condemned themselves to a life of poverty because no one will ever hire them...

...I also love that their scabby scruffy unwashed asses can't afford the very objects that they've became reliant on.

I short: Get an education or remember that there'll be people like me saying "I told you so" when you're picking your dinner out the trash. Mmmmm half eaten burger, tasty.

And how will people develop the skills needed to be successful in life? For example: You can't learn argumentative proficiency from a dictionary or thesaurus.

I do believe that in some places, that the public education system is a bit outdated. In math, big, standardized exams that require much remembrance seem to be somewhat irrelevant in this era of technology. Not saying we shouldn't have them, but I think that moving away from such tests, and moving towards utilizing the modern tech we have today could be beneficial.

I still think that standardized reading/writing exams are not a bad thing.

If your parent is a lazy hack and teaches you nothing about the world you just entered I feel sorry for you. Other than that, You can learn all of the shit they teach you in school on the INTERNET and yes, even how to grammar, and spell, Brazilians and stuff do it all the time. They know not a lick of English, but they can read and type it slightly.

Skulfuk, it's not that Black and White. Just because you didn't go to school, or dropped out before you got to highschool, isn't going to make you instantly homeless, Your odds of being homeless just goes up. Your not homeless until, you're homeless, Every decision you make may lead there after you dropped out or something, but there is always that chance you can bounce back before you actually do go homeless. Hell, I've see a couple of homeless people pull themselves out of the trash and get jobs as janitors and what not.

Not every job requires Grade 12, Everyone can't aim for the stars, or who will there be left to use as stepping stones?
