The mechanics are nothing like most other fps games, and the meta differs greatly.
Soldier Front has historically had superior sniping mechanics to any and all other fps games, and they are back and even slightly improved in SF2. It's hard to describe, but they're nothing like CoD/BF/CA sniping mechanics.
Camping has essentially been shoved out of the meta with how most of the maps are designed, as most cover can be penetrated and most areas are accessible through multiple means(i.e. you can't sit in the room with the object the enemy is trying to secure and a machine gun and just gun them all down). It makes for quicker and more fun matches.
The game is also very fast paced compared to others of the genre. The weapon balancing is absolutely fantastic. If you're good with a particular gun, you can do very well with it regardless of the circumstances.
They also have fun game modes like shatter, which places you in a map that can be entirely destroyed(you either kill the other team or destroy the ground they stand on and watch them drop to their deaths), among others like hero(which is a moba mode essentially), and slaughter/the other xanthid modes where you are either an alien or a human(aliens all have fully unique skills), which adds a lot of variety into it. It's worth a shot.
