put some effects like masking, flashes, filmburns and all this good stuff, that will make your vid looks nice, if you use it the right way,
Use freecam, or keyframes however its called now. But still, its good start if you ask me.

About the syncing, i never used M (markers) lol.

you want to press m whenever you want there to be sync, which you can do by ear or by looking at the sound wave
just sync up the second the dm'd joint turns red with where your marker is
