Ok, well i was just thinking about this
Iv been around the texture seen for a rather long time now and was getting curious, how much have other people made off the texture market?
After these few requests im busy with, i should be close to having made 2 million tc's.
Il have made 1.8 million off my full sets not including the smaller ones iv done in the past and not counting the sets i lost when i formatted
my folder has 60 different folders each for a different person, not all of them were sold though, so about 45 people have been "BenDified"

the only other people i think who could maybe top that are hanz0 and nightmare, but I dunno... nightmare is relatively new to the scene and hanz0 had that MASSIVE payoff from veb for his set

maybe hanz0 and nightmare could enlighten me with some rough estimates?

hmm... i would think hanz0 is the bigger one here. Then it would go you with your tribals, i think your catching up to hanz0 though do to the massive amount of requests for tribals. Nightmare was doing good then he closed his shop and only does request now.

i wasnt implying that im better than either of them, and i wasnt looking for any "omg wtf you like imba and stuff" comments either, i was talking in terms of TC earning and whatnot
iv said this before, we all cater to different tastes and all excel in our own areas


gotta say i rate xfacex rather highly aswell, but he got his full set and quieted down with texture making

i dont like to think that Im only good at tribals, i like to think of my style as more vector based than the others, tribals happen to be in that area though and yes, i have done alot in that style
i use tribals as french curves to make recognizable objects, take my heads for example
some might think i dont do enough with my sets and my talent is limited... which i can agree with partially, i find realism difficult and can never quite get it like the others can

Hanz0 has got that Armour style down like no one else has and there is also a large market for that style.
But some might think hanz0 does too much with his works

nightmare i find is good at most styles, tablet ftw! when it comes to descriptive requests, he can make a set exactly the way they want it
i cant even flaw him on creativity, his own set puts that thought to rest
his only fault that i can see is his laziness =P

I agree that hanzo's robot themed textures are the best, that's probably why I like him better because he makes my sets .
I know that you are a beast at tribals and whatnot, and the stuff you do for some requests i've seen are quite, well epic.
I guess what i'm getting at is you all have your strengths, which we've already established.

so, um yeah.

Another thing I would like to add: how do earnings reflect texture making skills? Just because you've been in the market for a long time doesn't mean your better than the next guy, imo.

Although Hanz0 never has time his either busy doing another texture set or your not cool enough nightmare is always busy with other people kissing his ass to make texture sets nachouru well do them fast nachouru ownzors

I have yet to tally up my total profits from textures and such.
I would probably estimate them at about 2 million +, though, considering my... larger spendings.
