you can press K on a specific frame, then K on another frame, and so on, so forth...and when you view the replay the game will automatically move the camera smoothly.

It will move the camera but not always smoothly. Yes it will be a smooth motion but it could be to quick or too slow compared to other keyframes. Just distance your keyframes well and you are guaranteed a smooth replay.
