The colors don't really go well together. Get yourself a cool little color wheel like from Blick's or Michael's. They help with contemplary colors.

What software you using?
Is the painted effect an effect or a tool?

I think the colours work well together, got like a brazil theme going on.

In my head the mapping looks good (no access to a pc atm)

I just used the pencil tool and blended it in with a blending tool for the shading

90% of my draws start with sketchs using the paintbrush tool and the pencil tool

I use sketchbook by the way

looks alright, might want some sharper lines/shapes in the final version

It looks good but could use with a lot of refinements but i like it colour change needed definitely
