I've had this issue with multiple versions, I tried the newest one, trolled around and found 4.95, then 4.61 and 4.61 and none of them worked. Is there something I'm doing wrong or am I just an idiot? I'm on a 2014 MacBook Pro running Sierra and usually the app will open for a sec and then immediately close. The older ones will give me a message that says that the application closed unexpectedly. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried steam version? I'm quite sure the issue have been fixed on the newest update

Usually when that is happening a driver or software is out of date. Try to Google for drivers and software for MacBook Pro and see if you have any out of date. If you want more information on it PM me, because I have to know some things you have to look up for me to help more.
