I live in a somewhat ghetto area and I paint my nails and get very strange looks. It's sort of something to stand out for me at this point, I hate the fashion here.

Nothing is strange in 2019. I've heard that ghetto areas can be pretty homophobic, so I assume the strange looks have something to do with the "that is not typical masculine behavior" thing. Come live around here (hippie-ville) and you won't be looked at negatively.

If you want my personal opinion, I don't think it's strange. It's pretty mild compared to what you see these days.

It's strange because people aren't used to men painting their nails. Yes, it is strange, but people can do what ever they want.
