So i'm new here. I recently discovered toribash and it's really really cool and fun! But the problem is, when I press esc, all that comes up is just a red screen and a small arrow. I can click around and somehow get to the torishop, but on the main menu there are no words whatsoever.

You've got an Intel graphics chip.

Use dxdiag to find which chip it is, then go to the Intel website & get the newest driver.

it says i have a

Manufacturer: SiS
Chip type: SiS 650 Rev 00

K, you'll find a driver here:

http://www.sis.com/download/

Select your OS -> select "IGP Graphics Drivers" -> select "sis650 & 740 series" -> press go.

I can't guarantee a driver update will fix it since your the 1st person with an SIS to report this. Let us know if it gets it going.
