I play on a mac, and for some reason, i must download the game every time i want to play it after i quit the application. this may or may not be part of the problem, as i have seen colors before while this issue was present. when i start the game and go into multiplayer, none of the body parts, blood, text, counters, or dq rings are colored any different than the default. this does not impede the game itself, it is just annoying as i cannot see the colors that i have purchased. please, if anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

have you gone to your inventory and activated the items?

I don't see you stating that you activated them via the inventory:

torishop: deactivated

then activate what you want.

edit: fast lil gubbin.

they are activated, plus no other players' colors show.

You have to download the stuff

type /download manboy66 in game

that should get your items in the custom folder.

Make sure you haven't messed with your custom folder at all. I had that problem when I edited my Uke a few months ago. Maybe see if you can get someone to upload their own custom folder and then replace yours with their copy.
