i am banned right now, and the message is infractions led to a 1 day ban
and it says the it will be lifted on the 3,
is that a miss fit with the mods or the site?

Your number of infractions lead to a 5 day ban. You've got just over 3 to go.

If someone gets banned due to infractions it doesn't tell s how long they're getting banned for until after it's happened.

It says you have a 1 day ban because that's what the admin wrote when you got the banfraction, but like I said we don't actually know how long you'll get banned for until after it's submitted.

The length of your ban is determined by the amount of active infractions you have, you had enough to get 5 days rather than the usual 1 day.
