Can't find replays on Ubuntu Linux
Hi there,

I recently installed toribash on Ubuntu Linux. It works fine, except that I can't seem to find any of my replays. They show up in the game under the file name I gave them, but when I search for them on my hard drive it doesn't come up with anything.

Also, after I started saving replays, all the replays that come included with the game disappeared from the in game menu, so now only my six replays show up in the game. This actually isn't a big problem, because I kind of like only being able to see my own replays, but I thought it might be related.

I can find the replays that came included with the game on my hard drive though, it's just my replays that I can't find.

Thanks!
Similar problem occurs on Windows
Hi,
I believe this happens when you do not install the game as an Administrator.
I have no experience with Linux, but I would recommend going to where your Toribash folder is installed and right clicking on it. Now select properties, or the similar button for folder options in Linux and then making it Read-Only, clicking apply, then unticking Read-Only.

You may only have to do this in your replay folder, but you may as well do it for your whole folder.

I'm pretty sure the replays just get saved into your temp folder with strange names if the folder(s) is read-only.

Good luck.

If you're using the .deb version then you'll find replays in /home/username/.toribash

Thank you a great deal, Mr. skulfuk!

For some reason no amount of using the search function in Ubuntu would find those replays.

Thank you to Hawkinz too! You are right about the main Toribash folder being locked to the administrator, because apparently in Ubuntu even the owner doesn't have direct access to root stuff.

I've just been asked to post this in here:

If your using the Linux deb repo version there's a high chance you'll not get any updates (textures etc) - it's a file permission issue. For whatever reason the version of toribash in the repo has a symlink for custom & data to a root controlled folder, so as a user you can't change or add files.

I ended up copying everything from the linked root directory into the hidden .toribash folder so I had user access.

Failing that you could always change your user so it's in the root group, but that's just asking for trouble.

(I'll also add that this isn't the case with the plain download version which updates fine)
