ok heres the deal, when i go to join a multiplayer game i get a message saying "not connected" my internet is connected and there is no reason for it to have done that. could someone please help me??

You have to go back in it. That is frequent now, and this goes in support. It will say 'Not Connected' , but go back in the same server again. It will work.

ummm yeah the problem still persists. I have tried doing what you said precisely.... 8 times now and it still won't work.

ok... does it do the same thing even with Private Servers ?
If it does that only in Official Servers, check out if you aren't trying to join a Qi limited server.
